Robustness analysis of signaling transduction networks based on Monte-Carlo method

The dynamic behaviors of cell system were deep ly affected by structural complexity of cell signal transduction networks and uncertainty of kinetics parameters. How to quantitatively determinate the relation between system behaviors and parameters variations was an important p roblem of systems biology. In order to study robustness of NF - κB signal transduction networks, the parameters of system model were assigned to subject to stochastic distributions. Then, robustness of system output signal NF - κBn with respect to 64 parameters variations and amp litude variation of step input signal IKK was studied by means of Monte - Carlo method. The simulation results demonstrate that the oscillation behavior of system output signal NF - κBn is closely relative to 6 key rate constantswhose robustness isweak, and the amp litude variation of step input signal IKKmakes a great impact on the oscillation behavior of system output

Preoperative Diagnosis of Fallopian Tube Carcinoma by Transvaginal Sonography, MRI and CA125

AbstractPrimary fallopian tube carcinoma is the least common of the gynecological malignancies and rarely diagnosed preoperatively. We report the case of a 70-year-old woman with primary tubal carcinoma, which was diagnosed preoperatively on the basis of elevated CA125 and characteristic features found by transvaginal sonography, transvaginal color flow imaging and magnetic resonance imaging. Transvaginal ultrasonography showed a sausage-shaped solid mass alongside the right ovary. Transvaginal color Doppler imaging revealed characteristically low impedance vascular flow within the solid components. A pathohistological study confirmed the diagnosis of fallopian tube carcinoma

Folding graft copolymer with pendant drug segments for co-delivery of anticancer drugs

    Get PDF
A graft copolymer with pendant drug segment can fold into nanostructures in a protein folding-like manner. The graft copolymer is constructed by directly polymerizing γ-camptothecin-glutamate N-carboxyanhydride (Glu(CPT)-NCA) on multiple sites of poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG)-based main chain via the ring open polymerization (ROP). The “purely” conjugated anticancer agent camptothecin (CPT) is hydrophobic and serves as the principal driving force during the folding process. When exposed to water, the obtained copolymer, together with doxorubicin (Dox), another anticancer agent, can fold into monodispersed nanocarriers (with a diameter of around 50 nm) for dual-drug delivery. Equipped with a PEG shell, the nanocarriers displayed good stability and can be internalized by a variety of cancer cell lines via the lipid raft and clathrin-mediated endocytotic pathway without premature leakage, which showed a high synergetic activity of CPT and Dox toward various cancer cells. In vivo study validated that the nanocarriers exhibited strong accumulation in tumor sites and showed a prominent anticancer activity against the lung cancer xenograft mice model compared with free drugs

The top quark rare decays with flavor violation

In the present study, we investigate the decays of the top quark tcγt\rightarrow c\gamma, tcgt\rightarrow cg, tcZt\rightarrow cZ and tcht\rightarrow ch. They are extremely rare processes in the Standard Model (SM). As the U(1)XU(1)_X extension of the minimal supersymmetric standard model, the U(1)XU(1)_XSSM features new superfields such as the right-handed neutrinos and three Higgs singlet states. We analyze the effects of different sensitivity parameters on the results and make reasonable theorecial predictions useful for future experimental developments. Considering the constraint of the updated experimental data, the numerical results show that the branching ratios of all four processes tcγ, cg, cZ, cht\rightarrow c\gamma,~cg,~cZ,~ch can reach the same order of magnitude as their experimental upper limits. Among them, tanβ\tan\beta has the most obvious effect on each process and is the main parameter. gXg_X, gYXg_{YX}, μ\mu, M2M_2, λH\lambda_H, MU232M_{U23}^2 and MQ232M_{Q23}^2 are important parameters for the processes, and have effects on the numerical results.Comment: pages 22, figures 1

AIM:To analyze the reason of canalicular laceration, and to explore the methods and techniques to raise the success rate of lacrimal canaliculi laceration anastomosis.
METHODS: Seventy-eight cases(78 eyes)with canalicular underwent lacrimal canaliculi laceration anastomosis through catheter support under microscope at I stage.
RESULTS: The operation was successful in all cases. The extubation time was at 3 months after operation. After one-year follow-up, lower lacrimal canaliculi were all unobstructed.
CONCLUSION: The causes of canalicular laceration laceration mostly were frustrated laceration. Receiving anastomosis under microscope at I stage was preferred and necessary. Searching nasal stump, implanting epidural catheter and anatomical reduction of the inner canthus were the keys to make the operation successful. Fake tears could also drain tear
